Some jobs mean more than others. The Gomer Barbershop has been a staple of this community since the 1850s - so when we got the call to help freshen it up, we took that seriously. The building had decades of wear showing through peeling, weathered wood siding that had long outlived its usefulness. It needed a full exterior overhaul, not just a patch job.

Here's what we were working with - original wood siding that was cracked, peeling, and in some spots completely exposed down to bare wood. Before any new material went on, we stripped it all back and installed fan fold insulation underneath the new siding. That extra layer does more than just help with energy efficiency. It also gives the new vinyl a smoother, flatter surface to sit against.

From there, we installed fresh gray vinyl siding across the entire building. We wrapped the fascia in white metal to protect it long-term, and added new vinyl soffit to clean up the roofline. The custom trim metal and trim boards are what really pull the whole look together - giving it that bold, sharp contrast between the gray siding and crisp white corners and window surrounds.

We also fabricated custom black metal trim pieces on-site to cap off the building and tie in cleanly with the standing seam metal roof. That kind of detail work doesn't happen by accident. It takes experience knowing how different materials meet and how to make those transitions look intentional rather than just functional.

The difference between before and after on this one is hard to overstate. What was once a tired, worn-down exterior is now a clean, well-protected building that actually looks the part for a place with this much history. It's the kind of work we're genuinely proud to leave behind in a community like Gomer.
