This one started rough. The old roof was well past its prime - worn down, patched up, and held together longer than it should have been. When a roof gets to that point, a patch job just kicks the problem down the road. The only real fix is a full tear-off and a fresh start, which is exactly what we did here in McGuffey.

We stripped everything down to the deck. No layovers, no shortcuts. Once we had a clean surface to work with, we installed Owens Corning Duration shingles in Estate Grey - a lifetime-rated product that holds up against the kind of weather Ohio throws at a home year after year. The color works really well on this house too. Clean, classic, and sharp against the siding.

The details matter just as much as the shingles themselves. We installed lifetime boots on every penetration coming through the roof. That might sound small, but pipe boots are one of the most common sources of leaks on older roofs. Cheap rubber boots crack and shrink over time. Lifetime boots don't. It's the kind of thing you don't see from the ground, but it makes a real difference in how long this roof performs.

The ridge cap runs clean from end to end, the lines are straight, and every course is laid tight. That's not an accident - it's what happens when you've got a crew that actually cares about the work they're putting their name on. At T&B Exteriors, that standard applies to every roof we touch, whether it's a small ranch or a larger two-story.

If your roof is showing its age - curling shingles, granule loss, soft spots, or leaks you can't quite track down - it's worth having someone take a look before it turns into a bigger problem. A proper roof inspection will tell you exactly what you're working with and what your options are.
